MY WORK

I did everything from collect content, design marketing assets, and craft the goods. The article was a write up in RVA Mag, modeled by my sweet friend, Casey. Sometimes the cities jewels are too precious to last this lifetime. My guiding light. R.I.P.

Project Description

Client : Self-Study

Location : Richmond, VA, United States

Target : Makers / All Ages

The Ask:

My Grandfather passed away and handed down what I thought to be a beautifully crafted 1920's Ivory Mahjongg set.

The Situation:

At the time of my conceptualization of this project I call Previous People, I was interested in unique hand crafted one of a kind goods. I was associated with a community of artists and craftsmen that were making pottery, one-off clothing, furniture, candles, knives, and all sorts of like things. This Mahjongg set gave me the opportunity to practice my hand at crafting jewelry and designing t-shirts, while up-cycling this product that was handed down to me.

The Opportunity:

Not many people in my generation know what Mahjongg is, neither did I when I received the 1000+ year old game.

The Solution:

I developed printed marketing tools to help explain the purpose of each of the mahjong tiles that were pinned to all of the products. I sold the products at pop-up art and craft shops in Richmond, VA, had an article written up in RVA Magazine, and promoted the product on a Facebook page.
